Commissions and Payments Answers
1. What is the usual commission split for photos sold?
Well, it depends. If the photo is uploaded by the group then the commission split is: 85% group, 15% Klixus.
| Commission |
| Group |
Klixus |
| 85% |
15% |
However, for a single photo purchase of a 4 x 6 inch photo, Klixus will retain $0.55 (including GST) and the remainder will be distributed to the group.
If a photographer uploads photos to their Photographer's Favourites Album and makes them available for sale, the commission split is: 85% photographer, 15% Klixus.
| Commission |

Klixus |
| 85% |
15% |
However, for a single photo purchase of a 4 x 6 inch photo, Klixus will retain $0.55 (including GST) and the remainder will be distributed to the photographer.
If a group hires a photographer and the photographer uploads photos for the group, then the normal commission split is: 55% photographer, 30% group and 15% Klixus. But photographers can donate part of their commissions to the groups, so groups can actually earn up to 85% commission if the photographer donates all their commission!
Below is a table outlining the possible commission splits when the photographer uploads the photos.

Note: these commission splits will differ slightly if someone only purchases a single 4 x 6 inch photo. In this instance, when the commission is split between the three parties, Klixus will retain $0.55 (including GST) and the remainder will be split: 65% photographer, 35% group, unless the photographer donates part or all of their commission to the group. Below is a table displaying the possible commission splits for a purchase of a single 4 x 6 inch photo.

2. Why does the group get part of the photo commission? And why does it vary?
Klixus was designed as a website to help groups to grow in our community (as well as helping photographers). One of the best ways we can help groups is to help them raise funds. That's why groups can earn up to 85% commission on all photos sold.
Groups receive higher commissions when they upload their own event photos, or when the photographer they hire donates part of their commission to the groups. There are many photographers who take photos because they love doing it, not for the money!
3. What is the minimum and maximum commission a group can make on photos?
The minimum commission groups can earn for photos sold is 30%. They receive this if the photographer uploads the photos and requests a 55% commission for these photos. If groups upload their own event photos they will receive an 85% commission, or when the photographer they hire donates part of their commission to the groups, they can earn up to 85% commission.
4. What are the payment methods for commissions on photo sales? How often do we receive them?
Commissions are paid into your PayPal account. You will receive an email from PayPal letting you know that there is money waiting for you. This money is credited to the email address you provided us at registration. You can change this email address by going to 'Edit account and preferences' in your profile. Groups can change the email listed under 'Payee Details'. Photographers can change the email listed under 'Notifications'. If you don't have a PayPal account you will need to sign up for a PayPal account at this time. Then you can transfer your money from your PayPal account to a nominated bank account if you wish.
We pay commissions at the beginning of the month, as long as the balance has reached $30. Otherwise the money accrues in your account until it reaches $30. You can check your account balance by logging into your profile and going to the 'Info' tab.
5. Can commission payments be earned if the profile is removed?
No, once you close your profile, you will not be able to earn commissions.
6. I want to close my profile but I've still got commissions payable to me. What should I do?
When you request to close your profile/account, you also need to request that we make a final payout to you; otherwise these payments will be considered forfeited.
7. What are the payments rates for a photographer's upfront fee?
Photographers charging an upfront fee of $10 - $150 will receive 91% of the total fee for events that they cover. This percentage increases as your upfront fee increases. See the commission table below. For Australian photographers, please refer to the second table which includes GST.

8. What are the payment methods for upfront fees? How does a photographer receive them?
Upfront fee payments are paid into your PayPal account. You will receive an email from PayPal letting you know that there is money waiting for you. This money is credited to the email address you provided us at registration. You can change this email address by going to 'Edit account and preferences' in your profile and changing the email listed under 'Notifications'. If you don't have a PayPal account you will need to sign up for a PayPal account at this time. Then you can transfer your money from your PayPal account to a nominated bank account if you wish.
Upfront fee payments are paid when the photographer uploads photos into the group's event album and clicks
All Done.
9. I can't edit the album anymore and release my upfront fee commission. What can I do?
You will need to contact the group and ask them to unapprove your album. If they go to the
Edit Album option (underneath the relevant album) on their profile page, they can un-tick
Approve Album, then you can continue to upload photos again and select
All Done, which will release your upfront fee commission.
10. What currency will commissions and payments be paid in?
All commissions and payments are paid in Australian dollars. When you check your PayPal account, they should be received in your own country's currency.
11. When will the photographer receive the upfront fee we paid to hire them?
Photographers are paid their upfront fee (less Klixus's commission) as soon as they upload your group's event photos to Klixus.
12. What methods of payment do you accept?
When you purchase photos, you can use the PayPal payment facility to pay with your credit card or with your PayPal account. You do not need to register a PayPal account if you want to pay with your credit card.
For upfront fee payments through the Klixus Marketplace, you can use the PayPal payment facility to pay with your credit card or with your PayPal account. We suggest signing up for a PayPal account as soon as possible for your group to be able to collect your commissions on photos as they start selling.
13. Does Klixus have any special rules regarding commissions and payments?
Yes. In the event of chargebacks or fraudulent payments, Klixus may deduct sums from your account until it has retrieved the amount equal to the commissions paid to you when the fraudulent payment was processed.
14. We found a photographer we want to use on a reoccurring basis. Can we stop going through the Marketplace?
Yes, but it will make us very sad. Klixus offers its website in goodwill and provides benefits such as commissions to both photographers and groups, so excluding us from our fair and justified commission payments on upfront fees or photo sales doesn't seem fair. We recommend that groups continue to hire photographer's through the Marketplace (even when you identify someone you want to use on a reoccurring basis) as this will provide you with a historical record of the agreed commission split, any instructions you gave the photographer, and it allows photographers to provide you with vouchers for free photo downloads!
15. My/Our profile has been suspended or terminated. Do I/we still get commissions?
Suspension or termination of your profile would only occur if there has been a serious violation of the Terms of Use. In such cases, you can expect that all commission payments are forfeited due to your breach of the Terms of Use.
16. Money seems to have disappeared from my/our account. What has happened?
This is a rare occurrence but unfortunately it does happen. In the event of chargebacks or fraudulent payments, Klixus may deduct sums from your account until it has retrieved the amount equal to the commissions paid to you when the fraudulent payment was processed.
17. We haven't received our photo commissions or refunds on upfront fees yet. Why not?
Commissions on photo sales are paid out once the balance of the account reaches $30. It is paid out at the beginning of the month, or is rolled over until a time it reaches $30. You can check your account balance by logging into your profile and going to the 'Info' tab.

- Log into your group profile.
- Click on Edit account and preferences.
- Scroll down to Payee Details.

- If your group has an existing PayPal account, type that address in here. Otherwise, type in the group's administration email address so they can set up a PayPal account when the first payment is received.
- Click on Save Changes.
18. How do we change the email address our payments are paid to?
Just follow these easy steps:
- Log into your group profile.
- Click on Edit account and preferences in your left menu.
- Scroll down to Payee Details.
- Change the email address typed in this field.
- Click on Save Changes.
- Your PayPal account will need to be linked with this email, or you will need to set up a new PayPal account with this email address when you receive your next payment.
Please note that we cannot re-send payments to your new email address, only future payments will be sent to this email. We suggest transferring money between PayPal accounts if necessary.
19. We have two profiles but would like the commissions to be paid into the same PayPal account. Can we do this?
Yes. Just make sure that you have entered the same email address into the 'Payee Details' listed under
'Edit account and preferences' in your group profile. See the above answer for more details.
Refunds Answers
1. Our group needs to cancel our event. Can we get a refund on the upfront fee we paid for the photographer?
Yes. However, a $1 Klixus administration fee will deducted from the fee before it is refunded to you, and if the photographer had a cancellation fee as part of their offer, this will also be deducted before it is refunded to you.
You will receive an email from PayPal letting you know that there is money waiting for you. This money is credited to the email address you provided us at registration. You can change this email address by going to 'Edit account and preferences' in your profile, and change the email listed under 'Payee Details'. If you don't have a PayPal account you will need to sign up for a PayPal account at this time. Then you can transfer your money from your PayPal account to a nominated bank account if you wish.
2. The photographer has cancelled attending our event. Can we get a refund?
Yes. If you have paid an upfront fee, this will be refunded to your PayPal account.
3. The photographer still hasn't uploaded our photos. Can we get a refund?
If the photographer hasn't uploaded your photos to Klixus within 30 days of your event finishing, you are entitled to request a full refund of any upfront fee you may have paid. Please email us and let us know which event you want the refund on. Go to 'Contact Us' at the bottom menu for our contact details.
4. The photographer didn't turn up to our event. Can we get a refund?
We're sorry to hear that this happened. Have you contacted the photographer to see why they didn't attend? Is it possible that they took the photos without your knowing? Photographers are meant to be almost invisible. But if you're certain they didn't show and your group paid an upfront fee for this event, then you can request a full refund from Klixus. Please email us and let us know which event you want the refund on. Go to 'Contact Us' at the bottom menu for our contact details.
Note: We may contact the photographer first before issuing the refund.
If the photographer's absence was due to negligence and disregard, then you can also leave negative feedback by clicking on 'History' in the Marketplace, find the relevant event and photographer and 'Leave feedback'.
5. We aren't happy with the photographer's shots. Can we get a refund?
Unfortunately, no. The upfront fee payment made at the time of hiring a photographer is solely a fee for them attending your event. It isn't payment for the photos.
6. I can't seem to download the photo. Can I get a refund?
Try clicking on the link next to the photo to begin the download procedure. You should then be able to save it to your computer.
Check your email, open the Klixus Photo Order email and click on Order Recall, and try downloading it from there.
If you see an error message such as 'Klixus is currently unavailable', then wait 1 hour and try to re-download. We might be experiencing some technical problems.
If all else fails, please email us. Click on 'Contact Us' in the bottom menu to view our email details.
7. I changed my mind after buying a photo, can I get a refund?
Please consider your purchases carefully before confirming your order as no refunds are given.
8. I bought a 4 x 6 inch photo, but I'm not happy with its printing quality, can I get a refund?
No, unfortunately, the pixel resolution of the 4 x 6 inch photos (and therefore their printing quality) is dependent on the photos uploaded to our site by the photographer or groups. If they did not use a high pixel resolution setting on their camera, then the photo they upload to our site will not print well at the 4 x 6 inch size. The group or photographer that uploads the photo is responsible for uploading photos that are suitable to be printed in good quality at the 4 x 6 inch photo size.
To get a good quality print for a 4 x 6 inch photo, the minimum pixel resolution needs to be about 800 x 1200 pixels (200 dpi). A high quality print would need about 1200 x 1800 pixels (300 dpi).
